Arlington Heights police have arrested a 35-year-old Mount Prospect man for sexually assaulting an elderly woman at her home in September, police said.

Reynaldo Pineda is accused of entering through a home in the 2400 block of South Embers Lane through an unlocked window around 2 a.m. on Sept. 25 and sexually assaulting a 68-year-old woman who lived at the home, according to an Arlington Heights Police Department press release. Pineda, of 2078 W. Algonquin Road in Mount Prospect, is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and home invasion.

Police said they traced the crime to Pineda through fingerprint evidence collected at the scene. That evidence was entered into a national database. On Oct. 18, Pineda was arrested for a traffic offense in Cook County and his fingerprints were collected during the booking process, police said.
