The Barrington High School Madrigals will leave for Washington DC this Saturday, to perform at the White House.  

The schedule includes a three-hour performance at the White House and performing at the National Christmas Tree Program on the Ellipse on the National Mall Sunday.  Other venues include the Newseum, the Marriott Hotel, a brunch at the Kennedy Center, and a private Capitol Tour.

Prior to this, the Madrigals have been performing for numerous local organizations and venues including the Barrington Christmas Tree Lighting, Medinah, Wynstone, Hawthorn and Barrington Hills Country Club as well as several church luncheon programs and private parties.  The Madrigals also sang at the Goodman Theatre prior to "A Christmas Carol" during Thanksgiving week.
In this past decade, under the direction of Nancie Tobison, the Barrington High School singers have received national and international acclaim.  They have performed at numerous venues in the US and abroad including the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall, The White House, the Beijing Olympics, the Sydney Opera House, and the Papal Palace outside of Rome.  This group has won festivals in Boston and Chicago as well as abroad at the London Conservatory and the International Choir Days in Verona, Italy.

The Madrigals will perform at the Barrington High School Holiday Choir Concert, Wednesday, Dec. 14 and Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 pm in the Richard C. Johnson Auditorium.  The shows will feature sacred and secular songs of the season.

All seats are reserved. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students/children and senior citizens are admitted for free.  For further information, please contact the Fine Arts Office at 842-3214.

In the Dine and Share, four Barrington restaurants donate a percentage from diner's bill on night's of performances to the Fine Arts Department.  These include , , , and in the Foundry.  All of these fine establishments are conveniently located to dine early and make the choir concerts at 7:30 p.m.  Diners need to show a ticket or mention participating to the server that night for them to support BHS Fine Arts Department.
