Family Safety Fair Coming to Advocate Children's, Sept. 19
Car seat checks, bike helmet fittings and fun activities featured at free safety fair hosted by Advocate Children's Hospital.

Kids of all ages are invited to Advocate Children’s Hospital’s “Family Safety Fair,” this Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The free, family-friendly event will take place in Advocate Christ Medical Center’s employee parking lot, which is located across from Target on the corner of 95th Street and Keeler Avenue in Oak Lawn.
Families in the community are invited to attend and have fun while learning how they can create a safe environment at home to avoid preventable injuries. The fair will combine fun and safety with interactive activities to keep children interested while gaining the education they and parents need to keep their family safe.

Certified child car seat technicians also will be on hand to inspect children’s car seats to ensure they are properly installed. Seventy-three percent of car seats are not used or installed correctly, according to Safe Kids Worldwide organization.

• “Berry” Unsafe House: Kids will learn about home safety by pinpointing unsafe situations in this interactive dollhouse.
• Poison Prevention Display: An interactive poison safety display that shows parents and children how simple it can be for a child to mistake a poisonous item for something safe like candy or soda.
• Bike Helmet Fittings and Sales: A helmet does not protect the brain from injury if it does not properly fit. Free helmet fittings will be provided to children who bring their helmet. Helmets also can be purchased at the Safety Fair for only $11. Various sizes (toddler, youth and adult) and colors will be available for purchase.
• F.A.S.T: Children and adults will learn the signs of a stroke.
• Safe Sleep for Infants Education
• Face painting by the Oak Lawn Children’s Museum
• Special Guests include the Oak Lawn Fire and Police Departments
