Former Restaurant Manager Sentenced for Stealing to Fund Disney Trips

The former manager of a Lincolnshire restaurant who stole customers’ identities in order to fund trips to Disney World was sentenced to six months in jail and must pay more than $20,000 in restitution, the Lake County News-Sun reports. He was sentenced after pleading guilty to the crimes.

Alexander Pera, 26, of Chicago, was the manager at Eddie Merlot’s Restaurant. He was charged July 2 with aggravated identify theft, identity theft and money laundering. Police allege he stole more than $50,000 from diners and employees to fund multiple trips to Disney World.

Pera funded 15 stays at Walt Disney World Resort over the course of five months plus two cruises on Disney Cruise Line, the News-Sun reports.
