Car Crashes Through Health Club Window, But That Doesn't Stop Members From Working Out

No one was hurt after the vehicle jumped a curb and burst through the Arlington Heights storefront Wednesday afternoon.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A car barreled through the window of an Arlington Heights health club Wednesday afternoon, but that wasn't enough to disrupt some members' workouts, the Arlington Heights Post reports.

The accident was reported at about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Zip Fitness, 50 W. Rand Road, the report stated. No one was hurt in the crash, including the driver of the car and its passenger, the report added.

The crash occurred when the car accidentally jumped a curb outside the health club and then burst through the storefront, according to the report. The out-of-control vehicle left crushed brick and shattered window in its wake, and a temporary wall will need to be built while the damage is repaired, the report added.

Despite the accident, Pablo Ocampo, the manager at Zip Fitness, didn't close the club, the report stated. Some members asked if they could continue exercising, so Ocampo turned up the building's heater and hooked up space heaters to keep his customers happy, the report added.

"It's that time of year, when everyone is getting a head start on their New Year's resolutions to get in shape, so I think when they realized everyone was safe, they didn't want to stop their workouts," Ocampo told the Post.
