Huge Fire on Chicago's West Side: Fireballs and Explosions Reported
The fire destroyed a pallet yard on Damen Avenue. Witnesses said they saw fireballs and heard explosions late Monday.
CHICAGO, IL — A huge fire that could be seen for miles burned late Monday night on Chicago's West Side, north of the United Center. The fire was reported in a pallet yard at 456 N. Damen Ave. at about 11 p.m. The fire was elevated to a 3-11 just before midnight.
The pallet yard was destroyed, and a nearby house was damaged, according to the Chicago Fire Department. The explosions were propane tanks in the yard.
An Instagram user, Eric Strand, posted a video of the fire late Monday.
