Hall of Fame Coach Patrick Sullivan Addresses Students at CHSD 170's Washington-McKinley School

Presentation on the importance of attitude well received by the students

A group of students and staff at Chicago Heights School District 170’s Washington-McKinley School recently welcomed Hall of Fame basketball coach Patrick Sullivan as a guest speaker at a school assembly.

Sullivan was invited to address the students on the importance of attitude at the request of the school’s assistant principal Dr. Ayana Whaley-McGhee, and Mark Anderson, a long-time coach and PE instructor in the district.

“Dr. McGhee and I attended a meeting in October at which Coach Sullivan was the keynote speaker and we were most impressed by his message,” Anderson said.

“Coach Sullivan’s message on the importance of attitude as a crucial element of individual success struck a chord with Mark and me,” McGhee added, “and we felt that our students would benefit from both his positive message and his superb presentation.”

Sullivan served as the Head Basketball Coach, Athletic Director and Athletic Chairman at the University of St. Francis in Joliet. A member of eight Halls of Fame, he is a much-in-demand speaker who has addressed groups throughout the United States and in Austria, Belgium, Greece, and Ireland.
