Police were unable to locate seven men, who allegedly knocked out a man's tooth and tried to empty his pockets on Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Heights Man Beaten by Seven Men on Hickory Street

A Chicago Heights man lost a tooth but was able to keep his belongings after a frightening attempted robbery on the south end of the city.

The 23-year-old told police he was near his home in the first block of West Hickory Street just before 5 a.m. when he was approached by seven men, who started beating him for no apparent reason.

The man was struck with a brick and punched in the face and body several times, according to the report. The unknown men then tried to take items out of the man's pockets but he "fought them back as hard as he could" and escaped, according to the report.

One of the man's teeth was knocked out, and police noticed a split on the left corner of his mouth. The man also had lacerations on his knuckles, according to the report.

The man was treated for his injuries at St. James Hospital. Police checked the area on Hickory Street for the attackers, but were unable to locate them.
