Cause of Boat on Fire in Driveway Under Investigation
The fire caused damage to a nearby home in Johnsburg Thursday night.

Fire officials are investigating what caused a boat to catch fire in a driveway in Johnsburg Thursday night.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was dispatched to Rolling Lane and Harrison Lane in Johnsburg at 9:11 p.m. where they found a 25-foot Baja cuddy boat fully involved in fire, according to a news release. The fire was close to a two-story house nearby.
The blaze was brought under control in about five minutes and fully extinguished in 15 minutes.
Damage to the boat is estimated at $35,000, according to the news release. Damage to the home is estimated at $5,000. The residence is still habitable but the boat is a total loss, according to the news release.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is being investigated by the Johnsburg Police Department.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
