Driver Killed, Other Driver Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash

A 25-year-old Bartlett man is dead and a McHenry woman has been seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash Monday evening near Prairie Grove.

The crash occurred when a 2002 Cadillac Deville was traveling south in the 2200 block of Illinois South Route 31 in unincorporated Prairie Grove and collided with a northbound 2003 Mountaineer at about 6:11 p.m., according to a McHenry County Sheriff’s Office press release.

“After the Cadillac overtook another vehicle traveling southbound, it lost control and entered the northbound lane where it collided with a northbound 2003 Mercury Mountaineer,” according to the news release.

The driver of the Cadillac was taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry where he was pronounced dead. He was wearing his seatbelt and his airbags were deployed. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family, police said.

The driver of the Mercury, Colleen Dilone Victoriano, 51, of McHenry, was transported by ambulance to Centegra Hospital in McHenry in serious condition. Dilone Victoriano was also wearing her seatbelt and the airbags in her vehicle were deployed.

An investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigations Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office. Members of the Crystal Lake and McHenry Fire Protection District along with the McHenry City Police Department and Prairie Grove Police Department assisted at the scene.
