Heroes Like Haley 5k Inaugural Race

Haley Lichter was a 2013 graduate of Cary Grove High School who was diagnosed with an aggressive, rare form of brain cancer - Anaplastic Oligodendroglioma Grade 3, two months after she graduated high school. Her strength never wavered, she fought hard for 18 months, on January 15, 2015 she lost her battle with cancer.
We have started a foundation in her honor. Heroes Like Haley is a Illinois based charitable organization in the process of becoming a 501(c)3. Our Board of Directors are dedicated to raising community awareness towards pediatric brain tumors, Cary Grove High School college scholarships, financial support and improving the quality of life for local teenage cancer patients, survivors and families.
On July 12, 2015, on Haley’s 20th Birthday, we are hosting our inaugural Heroes Like Haley 5k run/walk in Cary. Haley had a love for running and was on the Cary Grove High School track and cross-country teams.
This is a family fun event for novice runners / walkers of any age and includes a chip timed 5K course for the advanced runner. We are a USATF sanctioned event Kids aged 4-8 that do not want to run in the 5k can participate in a free fun run. Custom inaugural race medal and t-shirts for all paid pre-registered participants.

If you are unable to attend, you can still participate by doing a virtual run on 7/12. Virtual runners meeting the minimum fundraising goal will be eligible for medals and specific price categories.
