McHenry County Sheriff Arrests Another Top-Ten Fugitive

A fugitive wanted for criminal sexual assault, aggravated sexual abuse, and several other charges was arrested on Thursday in Madison, Wis., according to McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren.

Ivan G. Hernandez-Gonzalez, 23, was listed on the Sheriff's Office Top Ten Fugitive List.

He is wanted for criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, violation of order of protection, domestic battery, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, theft, and leaving the scene of an accident, Nygren said in a release.

On Feb. 29, 2012, the Crystal Lake Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Hernandez- Gonzalez as a result of a criminal sexual assault on a juvenile female.

Police and sheriff's officers tried numerous times to locate and capture Hernandez-Gonzalez, but were unsuccessful. During Hernandez-Gonzalez’s flight as a fugitive, two other McHenry County arrest warrants were issued, Nygren said.

Looking for assistance from the public, sheriff police in November added Ivan G. Hernandez-Gonzalez to the county's Most Wanted Top Ten Fugitive List.

On Monday, Jan. 21, investigators received information Hernandez-Gonzalez was residing in Indiana or Wisconsin. Investigators were able to determine he  was living in Madison.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Apprehension Unit and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force captured Hernandez-Gonzalez on Wednesday without incident in Madison, Nygren said.

Hernandez-Gonzalez was transported to the Dane County Jail in Madison, where he is awaiting extradition back to McHenry County. His bond was set at $86,000, and he is awaiting a court date.
