Police ID Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash; Passenger in Critical Condition

Police have identified the motorcycle driver killed in the Thursday morning crash as Nikolas D. Marcopoulos.

A 21-year-old Ingleside man has died and a 23-year-old McHenry woman is in critical condition following a motorcycle crash Thursday morning in Ingleside.

Nikolas D. Marcopoulos, of the 34000 block of Oden Ave. in Ingleside, was driving his motorcycle north on Wilson Avenue when police said he began to pass a northbound 2009 Toyota in a no passing zone.

At the same time, the Toyota began to turn left onto Wooster Lake Road and collided with the motorcycle, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release.

A passenger on the motorcycle, Allison N Morrison, of the 4700 block of Joyce Lane in McHenry, was ejected from the motorcycle and struck the side of the Toyota, police said.

Marcopoulos stayed with the motorcycle following impact and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release.

Morrison was flown to Advocate Condell Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the Toyota, Matthew V. Paret, 20, of the 2500 block of Spruce Drive in Round Lake, was transported to Centegra Hospital in McHenry with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigation Unit.
