Rita Ann McKavanagh (nee Strudeman), 95, of Crystal Lake, passed away Jan. 27, 2013.
Rita was born Jan. 17, 1918, in Chicago, to Charles and Margarret (Austgen) Strudeman.
Rita and her husband Gordon owned and operated Mac’s Restaurant and Catering by Rita Ann in Park Ridge for 23 years.
After selling the restaurant, they became corporate convention coordinators, and retired in 1995 to travel, build a new home in Crystal Lake and enjoy family. They were active members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Crystal Lake and the Knights of Columbus.
Rir was the beloved wife of the late Gordon William McKavanagh; loving mother of Daniel (Sharon) McKavanagh, Kathleen (Dennis) Lauter, Gordon J. (Kristna) McKavanagh, and Robert (Jan) O’Brien; cherished grandmother and great-grandmother of Jeffrey Kruse, Jennifer Kruse and Samuel, Jacob, and Annabella, Theresa (Larry) Wines, David (Elizabeth) McKavanagh and Jayden, Erin (Corey) Nuss and Gordon D. McKavanagh; and dear friend of her devoted companion-nurse Ms. Librada Oltivero.
Visitation is Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Crystal Lake from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Jerome Koutnik will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Knights of Columbus Fr. McCormick Council 3880 at P.O. Box 1365, Crystal Lake, IL 60039-1365.
