Teen Arrested for Killing Newborn Kitten During Family Argument
The incident occurred at a Crystal Lake home, which served as a rescue shelter for kittens.

An 18-year-old Crystal Lake man is accused of killing a newborn kitten at his family’s home, which served as a rescue shelter.
Axel J. Salemi, of the 1 to 100 block of Briariwood Court, is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and criminal damage to property, both class four offenses, according to a Crystal Lake Police Department press release. His bond has been set at $20,000.

Police were called to the home on Briarwood Circle at 2:27 p.m. Friday to investigate a domestic altercation between family members. Salemi, while in an agitated state, intentionally caused the death of a newborn kitten, police said.
Salemi was later located at his place of employment and arrested.
