Three Teens Die in Crash Into Ravine Near McHenry

The crash happened Friday afternoon.

Three teens died Friday afternoon in a crash in unincorporated McHenry.

The crash occurred when a car left the roadway at 1308 S. Lily Lake Road in McHenry, traveled into a ravine and landed on the driver’s side of the vehicle at about 2:11 p.m. Friday, McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski said in a news release.

An 18-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, and an 18-year-old man, who was driving the vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, an 18-year-old woman, was transported to Centegra Medical Center in McHenry where she was pronounced dead just before 4 p.m.

The teens identities are not being released at this time. Examination, autopsy and toxicology will be performed to determine the cause of death for each of the teens. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
