Celebrate the red, white and blue at the Darien Lions' annual Independence Day parade. Note the new parade route.

Darien Lions Host Star Spangled Fourth of July Parade

The Darien Lions Club Independence Day Parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. sharp this Friday, July 4.

Due to construction on 75st Street this year, the parade will have a new route taking a path through the Darien’s residential streets.

Following is the 2014 parade route:

  • Parade steps off from the Jewel parking lot at 75th Street and Cass Avenue;

  • North on Cass Avenue to 71st Street;

  • East on 71st Street until Clarendon Hills Road;

  • South on Clarendon Hills Road towards the finishing line at Hinsdale South High School, at 7401 Clarendon Hills Road.

Kids can also decorate their bikes in a patriotic theme and enter them in a contest. Boys and girls should be in the Jewel parking lot at 9 a.m. Trophies will be given to the best boy and girl decorated bike, then ride your bike in the parade.

Visit the Darien Lions Club web site for information for more information about Fourth of July activities.

While Darien won’t be hosting a fireworks show, but other nearby towns will be blasting the booms July 3, July 4 and July 5.
