Hinsdale South Bass Fishing Team Wins Team-of-the-Year Award
The Hornets received more than $5,000 in fishing equipment.

The Hinsdale South High School Bass Fishing Team has been named a 2015 recipient of Plano-Frabill’s Illinois High Schools Fish Here Team-of-the-Year Award. As one of two winners, the school was presented with over $5,000 in fishing equipment and gear.
The Fishing and Outdoor Radio Show dedicates a segment of the weekly show to recognizing the accomplishments of young anglers and their involvement in the outdoors. At the end of each season, the show honors two high school fishing teams, one north and one south of I-80. According to the show’s website, the award goes to a school team that exhibits the greatest effort to promote fishing not only at their school but also within their community.

“I am so happy and proud that the show is recognizing Coach Jim Bondi for the work he has accomplished with our Hornet Family,” said Hinsdale South Athletic Director Kim Maloney. “He teaches angling, yes, but he also influences our students in becoming solid citizens and stewards of the environment.”

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) approved bass fishing as an official activity in 2009. There are currently 230 teams participating in the state.
