(Update, 11:30 a.m.) A search for a replacement for retiring Superintendent Renee Goier begins in earnest at the July Board of Education meeting, according to comments made by at Monday’s meeting.

London said at the meeting search firms will be interviewed in closed session before and after the July Board of Education meeting. London promised there will be extensive community input. She hopes a replacement is selected in November or December.

Goier’s retirement request was approved by the Board as part of Monday’s meeting.

“Dr. Goier has been a leader dedicated to the students and staff of District 109,” London said before the meeting. “Thanks to her efforts, and to our excellent and hard working staff, we expect that the transition to a new superintendent will be seamless, as our focus remains directly on the students.” 

Goier expects her final year to be productive and exciting. “We are facing many changes in education that effect all of us, every day, and I am excited to continue the hard work we've begun together on teacher and principal evaluations, the middle school schedule, and common core standards, to name a few of the ‘big ticket’ items on our plate,” she said in a news release.

(Earlier, 5:45 a.m.) Deerfield Public Schools District 109 Superintendent Renee Goier will retire at the end of the 2012-2013 school year,  according to an agenda item in the public information packet prepared for Monday’s District 109 Board of Education meeting.

The Board was scheduled to take a roll call vote Monday to approve Goier’s request to retire. Patch will report the results of the vote and further information as soon as it is available.
