109 Teachers Tweet Lessons While Schools Closed

The following information is provided by Deerfield Public Schools District 109.

Today is a great time to follow @dps109 and  #engage109 on Twitter. District 109 teachers and staff members are using Twitter today to share great learning links, tips and apps so parents can keep kids engaged, entertained, and learning while stuck at home in the polar vortex. Some staff members are posting links, others are posting recommendations for "old fashioned" learning, such as books and board games.

Teachers have Tweeted ideas for hours of fun and learning, and parents are encouraged to share their own favorites.

Here's how to connect with the fun and learning: If you have a Twitter account, follow District 109's Twitter account at  http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.twitter.com%2Fdps109&h=1AQH1jQDO&s=1. Then, do a search for the hashtag #engage109 to see what teachers and staff members are sharing. If you have an idea to share, just Tweet it out and include #engage109 in your Tweet.

"It's exciting and so much fun to see teachers and students connect, even when we aren't physically in the same room," says District 109 Superintendent Dr. Michael Lubelfeld. "You'll see a lot of our staff members who are part of the 1:1 learning pilot sending out really engaging links and ideas today. Today on Twitter, you can get a glimpse of how teaching and learning is transforming as we move toward District-wide 1:1 learning, and how our staff and students engage, inspire and empower each other every day."
