Board Postpones Deerbrook Discussion

Presentation on renovation of mall is not listed on agenda for today’s Village Board meeting.

Board Postpones Deerbrook Discussion

A discussion about the future of the Deerbrook Mall including special sales tax provisions is not on the agenda for today’s Deerfield Board of Trustees meeting, according to the agenda posted on Village website.

from Trustees Alan Farkas and William Seiden, the Board decided to wait until its July 2 gathering at the urging of Mayor Harriet Rosenthal.

At the time Rosenthal wanted to develop consensus among the trustees on a matter she considered very important for Deerfield. Though it was hoped the issue would be discussed July 2, Rosenthal and Village Manager Kent Street explained then the Village’s experts were more closely studying the proposal.

“We want more study to get the information we need to fully understand the proposal,” Rosenthal said at the time. “We want to get more information from our financial advisor as well as our Village attorney.”

The Trustees are expected to vote on approval of a four-way stop sign at the intersection of Osterman and Robert York Avenues and authorization of a special use permit for  which plans to open for business in Deerfield in the fall. Both matters have received preliminary consent.
