Firm That Picked Kimbrel Has History of Conflict of Interest
Incoming District 113 superintendent served as an associate for Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, Ltd.

It turns out the firm Township High School District 113 used to help find its new superintendent has a history of conflict of interest allegations.
Just recently, it was revealed that incoming District 113 Superintendent Dr. Laurie Kimbrel had served as an associate for Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, Ltd. just prior to them recommending her hire to District 113.
Here, the San Juan Capistrano Patch reported the firm had hired an outgoing California superintendent to a post with them following that district retaining the firm to find a replacement for said superintendent.

Here, an Arizona Republic columnist points out the firm was hired for $48,000 to find a superintendent for the Scottsdale school district. Among the three finalists included the firm’s CEO and a former consultant...for the firm.
The same firm, which the Daily Herald reported in 2007 is based out of Glenview (now located in Rosemont), had to drop out of a search for a new Palatine Township Elementary District 15 superintendent that year because a board member was an independent contractor for the firm when the search took place.

Another controversy with similar circumstances - an outgoing superintendent working for the firm - surfaced just a few months ago in the Freeport School District in Northwest Illinois, WIFR.com reports.
