The LFSA U13 Girls Select soccer team lost 3 to 1 to TFA Elite (Ohio) in a semifinal game at the U13 Girls Region II (Midwest) Championships in Appleton, Wisconsin this week.

The Tournament included the top 16 U13 girls teams from the Midwest including 12 current state champions. LFSA went 2-0-1 in pool play with wins over the Indiana (CESC) and Missouri (Futura Academy Vardar) state champions and a tie with the Michigan state finalist (Waza East).

In the semifinal game against TFA, a team LFSA had defeated twice in the fall, LFSA was unable to dig out of an early 0-2 deficit and eventually lost 3-1. This setback was the first time since last October that LFSA had yielded more than one goal in a match and was the team’s only loss of the spring season during which it posted a 13-1-6 record.

Other highlights of LFSA’s spring campaign include:

- State Cup Championship (2nd consecutive year).

- Second place in one of the two top Midwest Region II Premier Divisions (which included 5 state champions).

- 3-0-1 record against top IL U14 girls teams, including a win over the two- time U14 State Cup Champion, Campton.

- Nine LFSA team members garnered IL ODP State Team honors.
