Regardless of which team earns itself a catered meal for their department, the winner will be the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Each person will pay $6 per plate to taste the hamburgers and all proceeds go to the charity.
Each dish will contain two small hamburgers, a slice of watermelon and chips, according to Whole Foods’ Cheri Endler-Buell. Each person will receive a ballot when they purchase their food. When they are done, it will be placed in a ballot box.
A year ago the Police won the contest but the Fire Department has been working on an assortment of burger combinations, according to Fire Chief Ian Kazian. “The guys have been testing four of five recipes and I’m confident they’ll come up with the right one to beat the cops,” he said. “It will be sweet revenge.”
Police Chief John Sliozis is equally confident his forces will earn another trophy. “They haven’t beat us yet,” he said. “I think that sums it up.”
At the end of the contest, the winning team will get a trophy, bragging rights for the year and can start to plan its catered meal, according to Endler-Buell.
