Rauner Visits Deerfield To Tour School's New Science Labs
Illinois Governor pays visit to village where he grew up.

Gov. Bruce Rauner paid a visit to his childhood hometown of Deerfield last week to tour Shepard Middle School’s new science labs along with other elected officials.
The labs, which are designed to meet Next Generation Science Standards, were built as prototypes last summer as a cost of $3 million, the Deerfield Review reports. This summer, the school system plans on renovating the two remaining labs at Shepard in addition to the six at Caruso Middle School at a cost of about $5.175 million.
“I’m excited to be here,” said Rauner, “not only because this is home, but because you really are leaders in education quality here, and I do want our administration to learn about what you’re doing.”
