Updated Feb. 27:

For the first time in 50 years, a Deerfield wrestler has won a state title, according to an article in the Chicago Tribune. Colton Emmerich won the class 3A 182-pound division at the state championship last week. The last Deerfield state champ was Ted Parker in 1963 and '64.

Two other DHS wrestlers made it to the state meet. Andrew Mehrholz finished in third, the article states. Sage Heller lost in his first round.

Original article published Feb. 17:

Congrats to sophomore Andrew Mehrholz, senior Colton Emmerich and sophomore Sage Heller for their performances at last weekend's section wrestling meet, which earn them a trip to the state finals starting Thursday.

And many thanks to wrestling dad Mark Mulert for his photos.
