Driver that Hit Teen on I-90 Not Charged

Police have identified and “interviewed extensively” the male driver of the vehicle that struck Scott Wolf, 17, on I-90 west of Elmhurst Road on Monday at about 1:30 a.m., according to a press release from the Des Plaines Police Department.

According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, the manner of death of Scott Wolf, 17, of Des Plaines, was suicide, and the causes were multiple injuries and motor vehicle striking a pedestrian.

“Based on information that was obtained from a witness and after reviewing footage from the Lee St. Toll Plaza, the vehicle that struck the victim was identified,” according to the report.

After interviewing the driver and “conferring with the State’s Attorney’s Office it was determined that no charges would be brought against the driver,” the report states.

Wolf was on the varsity volleyball team and participated in a leadership program at Maine West. He was remembered for getting along with students of all ages.

More than 250 people turned out to mourn the loss at a candlelight vigil in Cornell Park on Monday night, Journal and Topics Newspapers reported.
