If you like the idea of consuming bratwurst and beer and listening to live music for charity, head over to the Frisbie Senior Center for the first annual Brewfest from 5-11 p.m. on Saturday. Proceeds benefit , and the District 62 Foundation.

Three types of beer, bratwurst, hotdogs and pretzels will be served in a party tent set up in the parking lot north of the senior center. Additional parking will be available at Latoff YMCA.

Stephen Samuelson, president and chief operating officer of the Frisbie Senior Center, said they are always looking for ways to collaborate with other organizations.

“We know resources can be thin,” Samuelson said. “[Brewfest] is a great way for two organizations to benefit from working together.”

The nonprofit senior center offers a range of recreational programs for older adults in the Des Plaines area, and the District 62 Foundation raises funds for the local elementary school district.

“We hope this will continue to grow, and we’re looking forward to making it an annual event,” Samuelson said.

Volunteers will prepare the food, and Express Euro Band will play Oktoberfest music. The three types of beer that will be served are: Steven’s Point, WI, Oktoberfest, Warsteiner pilsner and Sprecher Black Bavarian beer.

Admission to the 21-and-older fundraiser is $5, and tickets will be sold for food and beer.
