Summer Seafood, The Art of Pickling and More at BAKERSFIELD’s Summer Cooking Classes

WHAT: BAKERSFIELD is pleased to offer a series of summer cooking classes for individuals who are passionate about homemade food and cooking techniques. Each class will be led by BAKERSFIELD Executive Chef Patrick Cassata. Sister-concept Standard Market—a premier destination for top quality meats, seafood, bakery, and produce just across the street—will provide the bounty of fresh, seasonal ingredients to use in each class. Here are the classes offered:

 

Grilling Part 1 & 2: This two-part grilling lesson will take place at 2 p.m. on June 7 and 14. The first week, guests will learn grilling basics, compare wood and charcoal methods and choose a personalized menu for the following week while enjoying a delicious grilled meal. The following week, guests will put their grilling skills to the test and taste the fruits of their labor at the end of the class.

 

Summer Seafood on the Grill: At 2 p.m. on June 21, learn how to grill a variety of summer seafood dishes including salmon with grilled baby artichokes and grilled citrus and bacon wrapped shrimp with grilled polenta. Perfectly paired beverages will accompany each course.

 

The Art of Pickling: At 2 p.m. on July 12, make summer last well into winter by learning the time-honored art of pickling and canning. Stock up on cabbage, pickles, tomatoes, asparagus and more!
