Correction: The man's body was found at 265 West Ave., which is a parking lot. His son lives across the street, according to police.

An Elmhurst man woke to a tragedy Sunday morning, when he found his father deceased near his home on West Avenue, according to police reports.

William Colatos, 55, was visiting family on the 200 block of West Ave., just south of North Avenue, on Saturday, Jan. 4, police Chief Michael Ruth said. Colatos's son told police his father left to return to his Chicago home at around 7 that evening.

On Sunday morning, the son noticed Colatos’s car was still in the parking lot across the street from the home. He discovered his body lying alongside the car, covered with snow.

Ruth said there were no visible signs of trauma. Colatos's body was taken by the DuPage County Coroner. Information on the cause of death was not immediately available.

This incident remains under investigation by the Elmhurst Police Department Detective Bureau, Ruth said.
