York High School to Present 'Aida' in Coming Weeks; Tickets Expected to 'Go Fast'
Described as an emotionally uplifting musical, York High School drama will present Aida in coming weeks with pre-sale dates recently announced, according to a  Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 press release.

The show will be held March 20 to 22 at 7:30 p.m. and March 23 at 2:00 p.m., according to the news release.

Pre-sale dates for tickets to the show will be held at York High School:

  • Tuesday, March 11 from 11:00 – 1:30 and 6:30 – 8:30

Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for students. All seating for the show is reserved and tickets are expected to go fast.

District 205 proves the following description of the musical:

Following the success of Disney’s The Lion King, Aida was originally conceived as a Disney movie that would be written to transform into a Broadway musical.

After input from the show’s composer, Sir Elton John, Disney decided to take Aidaright to the stage. Starting out in Chicago and directed by Robert Falls, one of the most well-known and respected directors in the United States, and starring local actress Heather Headley, Aida quickly became one of the longest running musicals (and still is) to ever hit the Broadway stage.

Not only did Aida win 4 Tony awards, including best music and best actress, it went on to win a Grammy award for best album as well, with upbeat hits such as “Strongest Suit” and soul stirring ballads like “Written in the Stars”.

“If you don’t like your fate, change it” will always be at the heart of the show. This theme is developed through love, beauty, dance, incredible music that serves as most of the script for this inspirational rock musical.

This is a gorgeous production with incredible music that reminds us of who we are and who we want to be. Bring the whole family to this truly emotional, uplifting musical!
