Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Benjamin W. Thiel, 18, 745 S. Berkley, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, consumption of alcohol by a minor and attempted escape after police were called to a disturbance on the 500 block of West St. Charles at 10:39 p.m. July 9. Thiel and several juveniles were found with baseball bats, duct tape, rope, gloves and a metal shank. Thiel was released on I-bond. A female was released pending lab tests for drugs, and a second female was arrested for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released to her parents.

Possession of Heroin

Radoslaw K. Zawadzki, 20, 841 N. York Apt. 116, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance after police responded to a verbal domestic between Zawadzki and his father at 8:21 p.m. July 5. Police located heroin in a trash can, along with hypodermic needles. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Drug Dealing

Larry E. McDowell, 55, 326 N. Ardmore, Villa Park, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver after an investigation led police to his red Ford Windstar at St. Charles and Monterey at 5:39 p.m. July 10. McDowell, who police said was in possession of 10 packets of heroin and two baggies of crack cocaine, was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Possession of Cannabis

Emmanuel A. Plascencia, 29, 421 Burlington, Downers Grove, was charged with possession of cannabis at the Waverton Hotel, 624 N. York Road, at 9:43 p.m. July 6. Donald A. Merritt, 53, 8251 S. Prairie Ave., Chicago, also was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released at the scene on I-bond.

Prescription Drug Abuse

Police responded for an ambulance assist to an undisclosed location at 6:40 a.m. July 6 for a subject who was unconscious, unresponsive and had shallow breathing. He regained consciousness at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and admitted to taking two Oxycontin and two Xanax while drinking.

A woman police did not identify spit on medics who were trying to get her to the hospital due to her high level of intoxication and because she had taken several pills, according to her family. The incident happened at 2:14 a.m. July 9 at Brush Hill and Euclid. Police said they will obtain a warrant for battery.

An intoxicated woman in possession of pills was found passed out by police in the common area of a building in an undisclosed location at 1:30 a.m. July 10. She was arrested and released without charges.
