Downtown Starbucks Celebrates New Location on Sherman Avenue!

All are invited to join Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, 1^st Ward Alderman Judy Fiske, Downtown Evanston Board of Directors and staff to celebrate the re-opening of Starbucks on Friday, May 10^th from 5:00 – 7:00pm. The celebration will also include staff members from the City of Evanston and the Evanston Chamber of Commerce. Stop by for complimentary handcrafted beverages, food offerings and live music. There will be raffles and demonstrations of the new Clover brewing system, exclusive to this location within the Evanston area.

After 21 years, Starbucks is moving up the street to a larger, updated space at 1734 Sherman. Designed and built using green building standards (including water and electricity conservation and environmentally responsible building materials), the shop is LEED certified and features the original brick walls and vintage maple flooring. The expanded café will accommodate seating for over 90 where customers will be able to enjoy live music, monthly Clover reserve coffee tastings and of course, free Wi-Fi. 

“The company found an opportunity to be able to fit the expanding needs of Evanston and Northwestern University customers while maintaining presence on Sherman Avenue,” said Jose Leon, Store Manager.  

“We wanted to be able to provide not only world class beverages and customer service but a place to truly enjoy the full Starbucks experience; whether you’re studying, holding a meeting, or just kicking back and relaxing!”

The Sherman Avenue Starbucks participates actively within the local community by partnering with the Youth Job Center of Evanston, the McGaw YMCA and Connections for the Homeless.
