Kids and Parents Invited to Help Redesign Penny Park

The design firm creates customized playgrounds imagined by local children and built by community volunteers

Kids and Parents Invited to Help Redesign Penny Park
The following is from the City of Evanston:

Evanston residents are invited to a community meeting to view and discuss plans for redesigning the Penny Park playground on Thursday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m. in Boardroom A of the J.E.H. Education Center/School District 65, 1500 McDaniel Ave.

Penny Park, located at 1500 Lake St., was constructed in 1991 and designed by  Leathers & Associates, a unique firm that creates customized playgrounds imagined by local children and built by community volunteers.

On the morning of March 27, playground designers will meet with children, parents and staff at Dewey Elementary School and Cherry Preschool to discuss their vision for Penny Park. Based on those conversations, Leathers & Associates will create a customized design for the park that same afternoon, and present it to residents that evening at the community meeting.

Residents of all ages are invited and encouraged to attend and share their ideas for the playground.
