Professor Accused of Harassment Says Student Instigated

Peter Ludlow, the Northwestern philosophy professor at the heart of a sexual harassment lawsuit against the university, filed court papers Friday saying that he rebuffed the then 19-year-old when she came onto him during a night out in Chicago, according to an NCB5 report.

The student, who is now a junior , has filed suit against both the school and Ludlow, whom she says got her drunk, kissed her and slept next to her in his bed. The school acknowledges that Ludlow engaged in “inappropriate sexual advances” and says in court papers that he was disciplined.

The student says the incident left her traumatized to the point that she attempted suicideand sometimes had anxiety attacks so bad she couldn’t leave home.

Ludlow countered in court papers that he tried to send her home in a cab and rebuffed her advances, NBC reports. He also thought she was 22.

Ludlow is not teaching the rest of his classes this quarter, which ends next week. The school has not said if there will be any changes to his class schedule next quarter.
