State Liquor Board Sends Keg Appeal Back to Evanston

The fate of the Keg’s liquor license rests in Evanston’s hands again.

After Mayor Tisdahl revoked the bar and restaurant’s liquor license in January, owner Tom Migon appealed the decision with the state liquor commission. In an order entered May 9, the state commission sent the matter back to the city liquor commission for a second hearing.

Evanston’s evidence against the bar included 111 alcohol-related ordinance citations since 2005. A satirical Twitter account that was pretending to speak for Migon and made light of underage drinking was also presented. That account was actually the work of a former Northwestern student.
