SLATE Presents Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Company’


The Southland Area Theatre Ensemble presents Stephen Sondheim’s Tony-award winning musical Company at Governors State University’s Center for Performing Arts, at 1 University Parkway in University Park. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the Center for Performing Arts website at www.centertickets.net or by calling the box office at 708-235-2222.

Habitat for Humanity Orientation


Come to a special Habitat for Humanity home ownership orientation at New Faith Baptist Church, 25 Central Ave., Matteson. You or someone you know may qualify for a 0% full-term mortgage. Free. 10 a.m.


Big Band in Concert


The Chicago Skyliners entertain big band lovers with the traditional sounds of Duke Ellington, Glen Miller and more. They are set to preform a concert at 2 p.m. at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St. Vocalist Leslie Beukelman and founding drummer Bill O'Connell and the 14 piece band showcase the big band swing sounds that is America’s greatest contribution to world music history. Tickets are $20 and $18 for BAC members. Tickets can be purchased online.


Indoor Garage Sale

Jacob’s Well Church at 3450 W. Maple Ave. is hosting an indoor garage sale starting at 10 a.m.


Fermilab Presents: Mr. Freeze Cryogenic Show

St. Germaine PreSchool and Grade School Open House


St. Germanine School kicks off Catholic Schools Week with an open house for enrollment in the 2014-15 school year. Early enrollment for pre-school is especially encouraged. Everyone is invited to tour the school and meet the teachers and staff. 10 a.m. to noon. St. Germaine, a Blue Ribbon School, is located at 9735 S. Kolin Ave.


Meet Author Melanie Benjamin

The Evergreen Park Library at 9400 S. Troy Ave. hosts acclaimed author Melanie Benjamin. Benjamin is known for her stellar historical fiction based on the experiences of extraordinary women. Copies of Benjamin’s latest, Thoughts From Mill Street, based on the life of Anne Morrow Lindberg, wife of famed aviator Charles Lindbergh.
