Evergeen Park Man Charged in Downtown Chicago Hit-and-Run

Chicago Police said an Evergreen Park resident was arrested on multiple offenses, including felony leaving the scene of an accident.

An Evergreen Park resident accused of running over and injuring a woman in downtown Chicago Tuesday morning now faces felony charges.

According to Chicago Police, Carl J. Miller, 54, of the 8700 block of S. Mozart Street in Evergreen Park, was arrested and charged with one count of felony leaving the scene of accident causing injury and multiple traffic offenses, including failure to report an accident.

Sun-Times Media Group reports that at about 8 a.m. Tuesday, "police were notified that a woman was lying on the ground after being struck by a maroon Saturn in the 500 block of South Lake Shore Drive."

According to the Chicago Tribune, "A Secret Service agent stopped the car Miller was driving at 200 E. Jackson Blvd., notified Chicago police and waited for officers to arrive, according to a spokesman for the agency."

The victim was in critical condition as of Thursday afternoon at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the report said.

Miller's expected traffic court date is June 21, according to Chicago Police News Affairs.
