Man Dies When Car Hits Light Pole

The accident occurred early Friday at 99th Street and Cicero Avenue in Oak Lawn. Police say driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from car.

Man Dies When Car Hits Light Pole

A Streamwood man died of injuries he sustained from a single car crash in overnight Friday in Oak Lawn.

Steve Czarnik, of Streamwood, was driving north on Cicero Avenue when his car left the roadway and crashed into a light pole on the east side of the street.

The car then flipped over. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car, police said.

Czarnik was the only occupant in the car. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he died from his injuries. He was 36 years old.

Oak Lawn Police’s traffic crash re-construction unit is leading the investigation.
