Teen Pitches Fit at McDonald's, Throws Bike At Cop: Prosecutors

19-year-old Chicago man is also accused of stealing hash browns, according to the charges.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- A 19-year-old Chicago man was arrested after he threw a bicycle at a police officer and stole two orders of hash browns at an Evergreen Park fast food restaurant, prosecutors said.

Jarrett Collins appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felie on a felony charge of aggravated battery against a police officer. He is also facing misdemeanor charges of theft, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct of simple assault.

According to the charges, Collins went to the McDonald’s restaurant at 8715 S Kedzie Ave., Evergreen Park on Sept. 5, where he is a former employee. Police were called to the restaurant when Collins allegedly started making a scene.

When police arrived, Collings tried to run, allegedly throwing a bike and striking an officer. Collins also disobeyed police officers’ commands to stop and resisted being handcuffed, the prosecutor said.

The assistant public defender said that Collins lives with his aunt and is a graduate of Dunbar High School. He has also attended two semesters at Daley College.

According to the assistant public defender, Collins is a former McDonald’s employee and claims he was looking for work.

The prosecutor said that Collins has a pending misdemeanor charge for resisting arrest. A violation of bail bond was also issued.

Judge Felice set bail at $25,000 for the violation of bail bond, and $15,000 for the new felony charge.

Collins is due back in court Sept. 30 in Bridgeview.
