Frankfort Lions Club's 'Wurst Festival' Set for August 28
The festival—held during Frankfort's Fall Fest—is the club's largest fundraising event.

The Frankfort Lions Club is busy planning its annual Frankfort Lions Wurst Festival, a traditional German Fest, for Thursday, August 28, from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Since 1981, the Frankfort Lions have held its major fundraising event during the Frankfort Fall Festival in order to fund special projects, organizations and efforts that help the community.
The club decided to recast its annual fundraiser representative of the community’s German roots for the first time this year. According to the Village of Frankfort, the first pioneers were mostly of English and Scottish descent, however, it was German settlers from Pennsylvania that made the Village a reality and named it after Frankfurt-Am-Main, Germany.
Frankfort Lions have invited the German American Heritage Center to participate at the Frankfort Lions Wurst Festival; and the center will contribute volunteers dressed in authentic German clothing, a Maypole and flags. The festival will also have music entertainment provided by the Die Musikmeisters Band, authentic German band, and Peter from the Bier Stube.
