The annual "Frankfort Psychiatric Asylum" haunted house opened its doors for fright and fundraising on Friday.

The Halloween event, which is hosted by the Frankfort Area Jaycees, takes thrill seekers inside a spooky asylum, where patients run amuck and visitors are left wondering if the doctors just might be the crazy ones.

Money raised from "Asylum" admission fees goes toward funding the Jaycees' various charitable projects, including holiday baskets, scholarships and fundraisers. The funds generated by the haunted house are the Jaycees' primary revenue source.

Last year, the Frankfort Asylum brought in approximately $13,000 for the Jaycees. This year, board chairman Kenny Blank hopes to raise more than $14,000.

The Frankfort Psychiatric Asylum will be open from 7:30-11 p.m. on Oct. 19, 20, 26 and 27 at Harlem Crossings Shopping Center. Admission is $10.

The Jaycees will also host a children's matinee event from 1-3 p.m. on Oct. 28. Kids are welcome to come and trick or treat at the haunted house. The matinee is aimed at children and is not intended to be frightening. Admission is $3.
