Track Repairs Will Shut Down Parts of Harlem Avenue in April

One of the sure signs that spring is near is the announcement of new construction projects.

Beginning 8 a.m. April 25, Canadian National Railway will repair and improve the grade crossing at Harlem Avenue, closing the road to traffic at the tracks through 6 p.m. April 29, according to a Village of Frankfort press release.

The tracks are located between Prestwick Drive and West Sauk Trail on Harlem.

“We appreciate the cooperation and support of those traveling in and around the Harlem Avenue crossing during this construction phase," Mayor Jim Holland stated in the release. "We are pleased that these long awaited improvements will provide a safer grade crossing on Harlem Avenue."

Signs suggesting detour routes will be posted April 18, and construction could happen 24 hours a day, the release stated.

Residents with questions about the repairs can call project coordinator Adam Nielsen at 815-469-2177.
