Geneva's historic Mill Race Inn has been sold to the Shodeen family.
Closed in January 2011, the historic restaurant at 4 E. State St. occupies a 15,000-square-foot building on 1.3 acres and listed for $2.2 million. The sale price was not disclosed in a news release issued Tuesday by the family. The asking price was reduced several times, most recently to $890,000 in May 2013.
Nick DiBrizzi of Coldwell Banker told the Chicago Tribune last May that interested parties in the property included restaurant groups and developers who might build riverfront condos or boutique hotel. At the time, he thought a sale was imminent. The Shodeens' release, according to the Kane County Chronicle, did not state an intended use for the property but acknowledged that flooding is an issue due to its location along the Fox River.
