Three More Public Storage Units Broken Into; Burglars Take Electronics, Legal Documents

The case of the 's East Side facility isn't an isolated incident.

Geneva police previously reported that someone took $4,597 form a storage locker at Public Storage, 1040 E. State St., and removed all the belongings. The burglary took place sometime between 5:30 p.m. Oct. 24 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 25, according to reports.

Now, three additional burglaries have been reported in that same Oct. 24 to Oct. 25 time period, and in more than one case, access to the lockers was gained when someone broke a padlock on the door.

Here are the latest three reports, collected Monday.

Burglary—Someone took electronic devices from a storage locker at Public Storage, 1040 East State St., sometime between 5:30 p.m. Oct. 24 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 25, reports said. The victim said someone gained entry by cutting the padlock to the door. Among the items taken were two flat-screen TVs, two DVD players and a VCR/DVD combo player. The owner estimated the loss at around $1,550.

Burglary—Someone took legal documents from a law firm’s storage locker at Public Storage, 1040 East State St., reports said. The padlock was cut on the storage shed door sometime between 5:30 p.m. Oct. 24 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 25, reports said.

Burglary—Someone took DVDs, records and two Gemini turntables from a storage unit at Public Storage, 1040 East State St., sometime prior to Oct. 28, reports said. The value of the items taken was estimated at $2,500, reports said.
