A 23-year-old St. Charles woman is on the road to recovery after suffering an injury during Saturday's powerful storm.

Mary Gaffney was in fair condition Monday evening at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, a hospital spokeswoman told Patch.

Gaffney, a Northern Illinois University student, was one of two people injured at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark during Saturday's storm, the Kane County Chronicle reports. Gaffney's father, Kevin Gaffney, told the paper that she suffered a fractured skull after a pole or two-by-four knocked her unconscious.

Trained weather spotters reported wind gusts of up to 60 mph on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. The strong winds and Geneva.

An initial report from a Patch reader said two people were possibly injured at the Fifth Third Bank Ballpark campus during the storm. Gaffney said the other person injured is currently a student at a St. Charles high school.

A Kane County Cougars spokesman confirmed the incident and said that the staff is in constant contact with a provider to make decisions about inclement weather, the Chronicle's story said.
