There's something about food and fall.
Maybe it's the whole harvest thing—the idea that we have this abundance of good food collected, and it's time to enjoy it. Or maybe it's some primordial siren song—the instinctive desire to fatten ourselves up for the long, hard winter.
Maybe it's the subliminal message delivered in the old movie The Bride of Frankenstein ( here's the Young Frankenstein version on YouTube), when the Frankenstein monster meets the blind guy: Fire bad ... Food good.
But enough with the paragraphs that begin with "Maybe." What we're looking for here is some reader participation. Here's how it works (or not, depending on your willlingness to play):
In the comments section below, name the most delectable fall treat you can find in Geneva—and the Geneva restaurant or store where it can be found. We'll take the top three that get the most nominations (that means you can and should vote more than once for your nominee), and we'll put them in a Geneva Patch Poll.
You choose the nominees. You vote for the winner.
It's that simple. At the end, we'll announce the winner for all the local cyberworld to see. Then I'll visit the store personally and do a little eat-up and write-up.
So, if you love a particular fall treat, tell the world and support your local business. To be eligible, a nomination has to come from a real person, not a psuedonym.
I'm sure there will be other rules and restrictions, but I can't think of any right now. I've got a hankerin' for one of them Pumpkin Spice lattes at
