Good, grief. More winter, and in a pretty big way.

The Chicago arm of the National Weather Service has issued a  Winter Weather Advisory and  Hazardous Weather Outlook for good old 41.88°N 88.32°W, aka Geneva.

The Geneva Police Department sent e-blast to that effect around 12:17 p.m.

According to the NWS-C, a period of heavy snowfall is expected late this afternoon and this evening. The storm system is rapidly developing and will rapidly deepn as colder air is drawn into the system.

Rain will turn into snow mix by early afternoon and become outright snow by late this afternoon or early evening. It might be as fast and hard as an inch an hour—and we might get as much as 3 to 6 inches.

The Winter Weather Advisory is in place from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

"THIS WILL ALLOW SNOW TO QUICKLY ACCUMULATE ON AREA ROADS MAKING TRAVEL HAZARDS BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EVENING," the NWS says.

There will be high liquid content to the snow, so be careful shoveling and watch out for weighted-down branches and power lines.
