A DuPage County judge ordered a $350,000 bond last week for a 25-year-old Westmont man accused of robbing a Lisle Aldi grocery store at gunpoint on Jan. 20, according to a DuPage County State's Attorney press release.
Dean McKenna, 25, of 35 W. 66th St. in Westmont, is charged with armed robbery after police said he entered the Aldi grocery store near Route 53 and Maple Avenue in Lisle at 2:35 p.m. on Jan. 20, approached a store clerk and after asking for change, pointed a pellet gun into the clerk's side as she opened the cash register, according to the news release.
He is accused of taking $1,046 from the drawer and then fleeing the scene in his vehicle, according to the news release.
McKenna was arrested on Feb. 5 following an investigation by the Lisle Police Department. During his arrest, police said they also found heroin and drug paraphernalia.
Besides the armed robbery charge, he is also charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, battery and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
McKenna is next expected in court on March 3 for an arraignment.
