District 87 in Glen Ellyn Names New Superintendent

The Glenbard Township High School District 87 school board approved a new superintendent to lead its four high schools in the western suburbs of Chicago, according to a statement from the district. 

During Monday's meeting, the school board appointed David Larson who will begin his new role for District 87 on July 1. Since 2008, Larson has been the superintendent for Birmingham Public Schools in Michigan where .

Before his Birmingham post, Larson was superintendent in Harbor Springs, MI, a principal in Mount Pleasant, deputy principal at the Singapore American School in Singapore as well as an assistant principal and teacher in Florida.

Larson, who grew up in New Guinea, Indonesia, as the son of a missionary anthropologist, has a doctorate's degree in educational leadership and a master's degree in administration and supervision from Nova Southeastern University.

“I am very impressed by Glenbard Township High School District 87, and it is truly an honor to be assuming this leadership role,” Larson said in a statement. "It also will be a privilege to live in and integrate my family into such an outstanding community.
